google fiber internet service

Internet giant Google has unveiled what it says is the world's fastest internet connection through its ultrahigh-speed service, offering lightning-fast access of one gigabit per second, promising Internet Service With Speed 100 Times That Of Average US Connections.

With this, the entire film can be downloaded in 10 seconds instantly. This service uses optical fibre to deliver speeds far in excess of traditional web services, offering speed faster than almost anywhere else on Earth.

The web search leader unveiled its ultra-high speed Google Fiber service in Kansas City, Missouri, and it hopes to roll out the service to other cities later.

Google Fiber's ultra high-speed connections and television offerings are aimed at surpassing those of current providers, allowing users to search live channels, Netflix, YouTube, recorded shows and tens of thousands of hours of on-demand programming. However, no phone service is available.
Google said it also intends to roll out product packages for businesses, but would not provide details.
Google Fiber includes more than 100 networks and costs $120 a month for a package of TV, 1 gigabit per second Internet speeds and 1 terabit of cloud storage.
Google is also offering an Internet-only package priced at $70 a month. The download speeds would be around 1 gigabit a second, according to Google executives.
The package includes popular networks owned by major media companies such as Comcast Corp's NBC Universal, Discovery Communications and Viacom Inc. Premium movie networks are available from Liberty Media's Starz for an extra fee. But it excludes several major TV names, such as News Corp's Fox cable channels; Time Warner networks like CNN, TNT and TBS, as well as Walt Disney Co cable channels like ESPN and Disney children networks.
Google is charging a $300 installation fee, saying consumers should treat it as a "home improvement" cost.
The initial service area includes central Kansas City, Missouri and all of the city of neighboring Kansas City, Kansas.
Consumers must pay $10 to register their household online for service. About 50 "neighbors" will need to register in order for their area to be eligible for installation services, according to Google executives.
Google Fiber includes such features as the ability to record eight TV shows at a time and store up to 500 hours of high definition programming. Users can choose to use a tablet or smartphone as a voice-activated remote control.
Google is offering its Nexus 7 tablet with the Google TV app to early users of the service.

there are 3 packages google fiber offers :-
Google also announced that it would be releasing a Google TV Box, a Fiber box, and a Storage box (which includes 2TB of storage). The company has decided that the Nexus 7 will be the main remote device and will come standard as part of the package deal.
Google Fiber will be divided into two different services: Gigabit+TV, which includes a "full TV lineup," and the Nexus 7 tablet. It will cost $120 per month, but with a two-year contract, Google says it will waive the construction fee. The Gigabit Internet package will cost $70 per month, but won't include the TV box. With a one-year contract, Google will again waive its installation fee. By comparison, Comcast's newly announced 305Mbps service will cost $299 per month.
Google will also offer 5Mbps (comparable to many existing broadband services) for free for seven years to anyone who chooses to pay for the installation fee up-front, as a way to "future-proof" local homes. Or, instead of paying a lump-sum, the company will also offer this comparatively slow broadband service at $25 a month for the first year.
